Presentation
Feel Free MDVI includes materials, ideas and lesson suggestions to stimulate the tactual functioning in practice. If possible, offer the activity in a quiet one-on-one setting.
Method of presentation
- Announce the activity with a song, touch or object.
- Give the client time, but do not continue the activity for too long.
- Take withdrawal reactions seriously.
- A change in breathing, drooling or making a sound can indicate that something is pleasant or unpleasant.
- If possible, present material through the hand-over-hand method; the hand of the client rests on the hand of the caregiver. Now the client feels the movements. Gradually, the client’s hand can move towards the object until he feels the object independently.
- Make sure your hands or the materials are not too cold.
- Check which textures (textures of a surface) the client prefers.
When it says clients, we refer to clients from Living & Daytime Activities, from Rehabilitation & Advice as well as SMD and MD students of Visio Education.
